Announcing the 2019 Inclusive Community Artist in Residence: Johnny Trinh

January 14, 2019 by Kelsey Savage

Making. Playing. Telling. Together

Johnny David Trinh, spoken word poet, theatre maker, and community-engaged artist will be taking on the role of Artist in Residence at the John Howard Society. As resident artist, Johnny will facilitate 2 drop-in sessions/month, open to all participants. These sessions will also feature guest artists to come share their practice.

Drop-in sessions will consist of informal gatherings where participants can meet and mingle over light refreshments, and then choose to participate in various art-based activities including:

  • theatre games
  • story telling
  • collage making
  • baking
  • food making
  • and more!

With so many programs devoted to giving voice to unheard stories, Johnny is interested in bringing people together to hear these stories and build meaningful connection and positive relationships within communities. Along with drop-in sessions, Johnny will be documenting the process through blog posts and other media. Visit the CACV website for access.

Drop-In Sessions will take place on Tuesdays from 1-3:30 pm at the John Howard Society located at 3360 Fraser St.
