Cure for Coal: Spoken Word/Creative Arts Night

October 11, 2013 by CACV Admin

Organized by Sustainable SFU in partnership with Communities and Coal and the Wilderness committee.

This is a night for the Surrey community and students to come and engage in creative art performances on the environmental and health impacts of coal mining/exportation. Recently there have been a few issues in the news with regards to the increase of coal exports from Metro Vancouver — including US thermal coal imported by rail, which may have profound implications for public health, the livability of our region, and the maintenance of a stable climate.

We want to use the creative arts to reach a new younger audience and engage them in the realities of environmental issues impacting their communities.

When: Wednesday, October 23
Time: 6:30- 8:30 PM
Where: City Centre Surrey Library

Open to all students and general public this is a FREE event, coffee, tea and snacks will be available for purchase at the Cafe Central.
