Press Release: 3rd Annual SWITCH in support of nurturing arts and culture in the Downtown Eastside to take place November 06, 2014 presented by Connor Clark & Lunn

October 3, 2014 by CACV Admin

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – October 02, 2014

Yulanda Faris, Chair of the SWITCH Committee and John Montalbano, Honorary Chair are pleased to announce that with the Premier Sponsorship support of Connor Clark & Lunn, SWITCH will once again take place at the Imperial (319 Main Street) on Thursday, November 6.

“We are thrilled that this magical evening showcasing some of the amazing talent (performing and visual art) produced in this vibrant and ever changing community is again able to come to life,” says Ms. Faris. “It is our firm belief that the arts provide a unique route to personal and community well being and it is our mandate to fuel, support and grow these grass root expressions. Support from companies like Connor Clark & Lunn is absolutely tantamount to our success. Last year, with Odlum Brown Limited as Premier Sponsor, SWITCH was able to raise $55,000 in support of the Community Arts Fund.”

The evening includes a welcome reception, an “outsider” art display and auction, and on stage performances including local poet/actor Stephen Lytton, Twin Bandit – young singer/songwriters who have signed with Sarah McLaughlin’s label, the Carnegie Jazz Band, Barrio Flamenco, St. James Academy Choir and Award Winning Blues Queen Dalannah Bowen.

Tickets are $200 and can be purchased on line using the CACV Pay Pal – www.cacv.ca or email event coordinator Maureen Fleming at mfleming2330@gmail.com for additional information.
