WePress Opens on Keefer St.

February 9, 2016 by CACV Admin

This Monday, February 8th, WePress threw open its doors for the grand opening of the pop up community makerspace. Located at #202-268 Keefer Street on the second floor of the Sun Wah mall, WePress is in the heart of historic Chinatown, less than a block east of Main Street.

WePress collective member Cara Seccafien had the letterpress working. This letterpress was salvaged from W2 by CACV and stored by the fine folks at Gallery Gachet. It’s fantastic to see it up and running again!

There are also Chinese character stamps for the letterpress that were bought from Ho Sun Hing Printing Co.

A Tinkerine 3D printer will also be available for use by the community at affordable rates.

And there’s even a small gallery space! The first WePress exhibit was called “from tantrums to Silences” by Lydia Kwa. It utilized letterpress stamps and mixed media to stunning effect.
