Welcome Sammy Chan, our new Artist Development Assistant!

June 19, 2024 by Mary-Anne McAllister

We are thrilled to announce that Sammy Chan is joining the CACV team as our new Artist Development Assistant! ðŸŽ‰ðŸŽ‰ðŸŽ‰

Sammy Chan is a dedicated arts management specialist from Hong Kong with extensive hands-on experience in organizing exhibitions, community art projects, and marketing communications. Her expertise spans various sectors, including museums, art associations, and social enterprises.

Currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University, Sammy’s research interests include the intersection between art and faith, particularly Christianity and contemporary visual arts, cross-cultural identities, social diversity, and ecological arts.

Sammy is passionate about developing innovative initiatives to promote creativity and social diversity. Her previous working experience with marginalized communities, especially artists with disabilities in Hong Kong, has profoundly shaped her perspective on social innovation and sustainability. She envisions the transformative power of creativity and is dedicated to advocating for strategies that recognize and celebrate the talents and voices of individuals.

As an Asian woman, recent immigrant, and mother of a toddler, Sammy has firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities of navigating cultural adjustments and language barriers. These experiences drive her commitment to fostering inclusive environments where diversity is honored, and every individual is valued.

We are excited to have Sammy join us and we look forward to seeing all that she will achieve in this role. Join us in welcoming Sammy!
