Welcome Gurnoor Powar, our new Arts Admin Assistant!

November 20, 2023 by Mary-Anne McAllister

We are thrilled to announce that Gurnoor Powar is joining the CACV team as our new Arts Admin Assistant! 🎉🎉🎉

Gurnoor Powar, a second-generation Panjabi-Canadian, is currently in her final year at the University of British Columbia (UBC), located in Surrey, BC. Her academic pursuits revolve around English literature, complemented by a minor in Asian Canadian Asian Migration Studies (ACAM) for her undergraduate degree. Her research interests encompass the exploration of diasporic identities and networks within contemporary settings, as well as the integration of non-Western modes of thought and creative expression, which align with her classical work at UBC.

Currently, her aspirations include actively engaging in community initiatives within the lower mainland, with a particular focus on establishing inclusive spaces for meaningful dialogue and collaboration. In these spaces, the rich tapestry of Asian cultures and histories can be celebrated and unearthed. Gurnoor envisions these environments not only as a means of healing and recovering from past traumas but also as catalysts for nurturing a collective Asian-Canadian identity.

We are excited to have Gurnoor joining us and we look forward to seeing all that she will achieve in this role. Join us in welcoming Gurnoor!
