Social Media Workshop and Networking for

Downtown Eastside groups involved with Community Arts

Monday, June 25, 2012    2-4pm registration 1:30pm

  • Register here.1:30-2pm – Come early and enjoy snacks, conversations and connections. Feel free to bring brochures and information about your community arts activities. Make a name tag.A limited number of laptop computers will be available to use during the session. Bring your own, borrow one or just observe and enjoy.  Do arrive by 1:45pm if you want to use a borrowed laptop.15 mins: Welcome and Introductions – Sonja Embree, Vice-President of the Board

    45 mins: Social Media Platforms – wordpress, twitter; facebook; ning

    with a focus on how you can tap into CACV’s 5600 facebook fans, 2200 twitter followers and our intimate (300) dedicated online community (communityarts.ning.com) – Mary

    30 mins – Small Group Workshop – how to make one of the platforms work for you (better)

    Small groups will form to explore further one of: twitter; facebook and “ning”.

    15 mins – Q&A/ Follow-up possibilities  – Mary

    15 mins – Evaluation /Upcoming events – Sonja

    Location: 3rd Floor Meeting Room in  the Woodward’s Heritage Building at

    111 W Hastings Street, (at Abbott)  Vancouver, B.C.

    Thank you to UBC Learning Exchange and Vancouver Community Net for providing laptops for use during the workshop and for their support.

    Follow-up sessions for people wanting to have some coaching on using the various platforms will be provided at the UBC Learning Exchange for participants who attend this session.

    We are offer a monthly series of 2-hour workshops for DTES organizations involved with community arts. Our goal is to provide practical skills and also facilitate collaboration in the neighbourhood. Space permitting artists and others from other neighbourhoods are welcome. FREE – but please register and joining as a member is appreciated.
