The Community Arts Council of Vancouver (CACV) is seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator (Student Work Placement) who works directly with the Head of Programs and Operations to support marketing and communications for the Vancouver Outsider Arts Festival (VOAF). Key details include strategy, campaign development, content creation and digital engagement, media and public relations, analytics evaluation and reporting.
Compensation: Rate at $25.85 per hour for 240 hours from July 6 to December 31, 2026. The deadline for applications is June 17, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing, outreach, and communications strategies for CACV’s programming and initiatives.
- Design and implement audience development strategies to increase reach, engagement, and participation, particularly among equity-deserving communities.
- Write, edit, and coordinate written and visual content for CACV’s digital platforms including social media, newsletters, website, and public campaigns.
- Produce and edit short-format videos, reels, and other multimedia content to promote programs, artists, and events.
- Ensure consistent tone, messaging, and brand guidelines across all communications
- Draft and distribute media releases and media kits; coordinate press outreach and media partnerships.
- Maintain media contact lists and track coverage.
- Act as point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate interviews or press engagements with artists and staff.
- Contribute to program and grant reporting by summarizing communications efforts and outcomes
- Support promotion and outreach for public events, artist calls, and grant/funding opportunities.
- Attend and document public events through photo, video, and live coverage for digital sharing.
- Coordinate signage, print materials, and communications needs for events in collaboration with program staff.
- Attend regular staff meetings and contribute to organizational planning discussions.
- Coordinate with contractors (e.g., graphic designers, translators, photographers) as needed.
- Other duties as assigned to support CACV’s mission and goals
Core Competencies:
- Relevant education and/or professional experience, 1 year minimum
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across platforms and audiences.
- Demonstrated experience creating content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Mailchimp, and WordPress.
- Proficiency with design and video-editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar).
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, or other engagement tracking tools.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple timelines.
- A collaborative spirit, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to inclusive communications.
- Strong in Word and Excel, can use Mac or Windows OS and basic Google tools including Calendar & Drive.
- Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly

Other Skills & Experience:
- Previous arts festival and event experience is an asset
- Experience in collaboration with diverse individuals, including people facing social exclusion, people with disabilities, marginalized/equity-seeking communities
- Social action creative practice i.e. previous commitment to the intersection of arts and social change
The work is flexible and may be completed remotely or in our office located at the Woodwards Building (111 West Hastings St). The candidate would have to work in-person/on-site during the festival week from October 12-19, 2026.
