November 22: Let’s go to New West to talk about Community Arts

October 31, 2012 by CACV Admin

A team of us from CACV plan to head “out of town” on Thursday, November 22. Join us in New Westminster for a full day of dialogue about community arts.

Community arts organizations come in all shapes and sizes. Some are small one-person operations. Others may be larger and have boards and advisory committees. Some have staff while others are volunteer run. Some have been around a long time. Others are just getting started…

Wherever your organization is on this spectrum, some basic questions about survival and sustainability come up.
How do we stay relevant during changing times in our society?
Who is our audience, and what are some new ways to reach them?
How do we maximize our revenue streams in today’s competitive cultural marketplace?
In essence, how can we not only survive but thrive into the future?

The Regional Cultural Development Advisory Committee and Metro Vancouver, would like to invite you to participate in a one-day cultural “world café” style session where these questions and others will stimulate discussion. This is a networking opportunity to share information on the state of Lower Mainland community arts organizations today, with a look toward developing sustainable models for tomorrow.

At the end of the session, your input will help foster a series of regional workshops which will explore solutions to these issues.

When: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd from 9:00 am — 3:00 pm

Where: THE COLUMBIA THEATRE, 530 Columbia Street, New Westminster (Columbia Skytrain Station)
Cost: $20 per person*(includes morning refreshments and lunch)
* Registration is limited to 150 people and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Only online registrations will be accepted. There will be no at-the-door registrations on the day of the event.
