The project celebrated the history of the Carnegie Learning Centre over the past 40 years. Capilano University worked alongside Carnegie Community Centre, Carnegie Community Centre Association, Downtown Eastside Round Table, Mildred Grace Germain, Hari Alluri, and Edward Rouse, to facilitate three T-shirt design workshops and two writing workshops with the Downtown Eastside learners. On May 25, 2023, volunteers and learners were invited to the celebration at Carnegie Community Centre, where T-shirts with the chosen design were given out as well as the publication.
Over 90 people attended the celebration, and 20 people attended each of the 5 workshops.
"I felt I could reach inside and be authentic in my written expressions. I found the experience of writing poetry from and learning from Hari to not only to be fun, but also therapeutic. It gave the inspiration to express myself in words."
