Rita Wong and the Poetics of Water

October 24, 2011 by CACV Admin

Rita Wong is the author of sybil unrest (Line Books, 2008, with Larissa Lai), forage (Nightwood, short-listed for the Asian American Literary Award for Poetry in 2008), and monkeypuzzle (Press Gang, 1998). Wong’s book, forage, won the 2011 Canada Reads Poetry competition.  She is currently researching the poetics of water and teaches in the faculty of Culture and Community at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

Rita Wong  discussed her projects related to water, including the project Downstream: researching the poetics of water at the September Eco-Arts Salon.

This event is part of our 2011 Eco-Arts Salon series – we will be hosting a salon every fourth Wednesday of every month from 7-9pm at the Roundhouse Community Centre. Each salon will feature an environmental artist who will present their work – stimulating discussion around questions such as ‘What does it mean to be an environmental artist?’ and ‘What is the potential for community engaged environmental arts in Vancouver?’
