Volunteer Opportunity: Community Arts Activities – Outreach Role Description

July 18, 2011 by CACV Admin

Community Arts Council of Vancouver creates community through arts.

The Community Arts Council of Vancouver (CACV) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Community Arts Activities Committee.  The CACV’s Community Arts Activities Committee plans, develops, and facilitates arts activities that engage the public, spark dialogue, and encourage collaboration. Committee members are directly involved in creating connections and community through the arts whether they are promoting the CACV at public events or seeking out new arts events to recommend to the CACV board. The committee also works to improve networks for community artists in Vancouver and build a sense of continuity and presence through ongoing involvement in events like Arts & Culture Week and the Winter Solstice Lantern event at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Gardens.

Volunteer must enjoy working with people, interacting with the public and have a positive attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Attend and support community events representing CACV.

2) Responsibilities for each event vary depending on the needs of the organizer/artist.

3) Promote community arts events online (facebook, twitter, etc.)

4) Attend monthly  committee meetings at least 4 times per year and connect regularly via email with committee chair or coordinator of the event.

Time required is approximately 4-6 hours per month.

BENEFITS

Learn about the various communities in Vancouver; community art practices; local events and artists; and environmental art. Meet and work with lots of great people and for great organization!
