COMMUNITY ARTS ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

DESCRIPTION:

Community Arts Council of Vancouver creates community through arts.

The Community Arts Council of Vancouver (CACV) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Community Arts Activities Committee.  The CACV’s Community Arts Activities Committee plans, develops, and facilitates arts activities that engage the public, spark dialogue, and encourage collaboration. Committee members are directly involved in creating connections and community through the arts whether they are promoting the CACV at public events or seeking out new arts events to recommend to the CACV board. The committee also works to improve networks for community artists in Vancouver and build a sense of continuity and presence through ongoing involvement in events like Arts & Culture Week and the Winter Solstice Lantern event at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Gardens.

Volunteer must enjoy working with people, interacting with the public and have a positive attitude J

Volunteers needed for upcoming events:
Sunday, August 29:
NEST Final Celebration with environmental artist Sharon Kallis.

Saturday, September 25:
Culture Days – Panel Discussion on “Community and Art throughout our lives.”

Thursday, November 25
CACV Annual General Meeting and Program at Chapel Arts

RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Attend monthly committee meetings.
2) Attend and support community events representing CACV.
3) Responsibilities for each event vary depending on the needs of the organizer/artist.
Time required is approximately 4-6 hours per month.

Learn about the various communities in Vancouver; community art practices; local events and artists; and environmental art. Meet and work with lots of great people and for great organization!

Community Arts Activities Committee – Volunteers Needed

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to attend community arts events for 2-3 hours giving information about community arts and talking with participants about the importance of community arts. New volunteers will receive an orientation and work with an experienced CACV volunteer. Volunteers are expected to attend a monthly planning meeting. Interested? Contact Community Arts Activities Committee Chair, Aleida Vandenbosch at aleida@cacv.ca.

Board of Directors positions

The CACV board is elected at our Annual General Meeting in November of each year.

Leslie Kemp, past president, is chair of the Nominations committee.

Our by-laws require President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Past-President plus between 2-6 members at large.
