Our Spring 2012 Artists Have Been Selected!

After a flurry of submissions, we are excited to announce that our artist presenters for the 2012 Eco-Arts Salons have now been selected. Our diverse line up for the season will include: 

FEBRUARY  

Bruce Voyce, A Sculptor of Public Artworks who incorporates plant matter and recycled materials into his large objects. He has participated in the Burnaby Eco-Sculptures;

MARCH 

Behind Open Doors Art Collective,  A group of Performance Artists & scholars of public space who confront the separation of wilderness and the urban environment through direct physical engagements;

APRIL 

Cornelia HooglandPoet & Professor at the University of Western Ontario. She incorporates an understanding of place and wild places into her work;

MAY 

Chloe Bennett, A Landscape Architecture student who focuses on “Habit-art”, sculptural habitat for pollinators;

JUNE

J Peachy, A socially-engaged painter who has recently been named Artist-in-Residence for the Burrard Inlet Marine enhancement Society;

 JUNE

Eco-Arts Salons are events that bring those active in creating environmental art together with interested community members, representatives of environmental/community groups interested in using art to advance their social or environmental goals. These events serve as a venue for dialogue and for people from a variety of backgrounds to connect professionally & socially. The salons will be scheduled on the 4th Wednesday of each month, from February- June.

Contract Bookkeeper – 10 hours/month at CACV office

We’re looking for a bookkeeper to start by January 15 if possible. Here are some details. Send inquiries or letter of interest to eric@cacv.ca (our Treasurer).

Scope of Work                                                                                                                             

2.1.   The Bookkeeper is responsible for Accounts Payable – she will post cheques/invoices to Simply Accounting and reconcile vendor statements.

2.2.   The Bookkeeper is responsible for Payroll – she will process semi-monthly payroll with third party Ceridian. She will transmit for the 15th and 30th /31st payroll days, mail out direct deposit records to the employee and post transactions to Simply.

2.3.   The Bookkeeper will post deposits and assist with tax receipts – she will post deposits to Simply, prepare/print the tax receipts for donations and memberships in cooperation with the Membership committee using salesforce database.

2.4.   The Bookkeeper will prepare monthly bank reconciliations.

2.5.   The Bookkeeper will prepare monthly financial statements for the Treasurer.

2.6.   The Bookkeeper will conduct the year end review – prepare journal entries for year end, submit documents to Treasurer and answer questions the treasurer may have.

2.7.   The Bookkeeper will assist in preparing the year end Charity Information Return.

2.8.   The Bookkeeper will prepare the annual GST return.

2.9.   The Bookkeeper is accountable to the Board of Directors, reporting regularly through the
Treasurer.

3.      Working Conditions

The work will be done at the CACV office, 111 West Hastings Street, at a mutually convenient time on the CACV office computer. At least once a month, the bookkeeper, treasurer and administrator will meet to review tasks.

Review of Work Goals and Performance

The Bookkeeper will be expected to report on a monthly basis to the CACV Treasurer on ongoing work, progress in relation to work goals, and issues and concerns that may have arisen.

Compensation

The CACV will provide an hourly pay rate of $20.

6.2.   The CACV will not deduct from any and all payment of the said wages withholding taxes, income taxes, Canada Pension Plan, Employment Insurance, and other deductions required by any applicable provincial or federal government law or regulation. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for the payment of relevant taxes.

Vacation

Unpaid vacation time is to be agreed upon in advance

No payment for statutory holidays will be paid.

A leave of absence shall only be granted at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
